The Mosta project presented by Urban Malta JV consists in a urban garden that supports and complements the characteristics of the existing site and that can bring an improvement to the daily life of the neighbourhood.

The design is a natural landscape accessible to the citizen by the addition of slow paths and enriched by the creation of a multipurpose space. The walkways are designed to attract visitors to the area and to enhance the experience of the landscape.

The innovative feature of the Mosta project is the creation of an arena which can be utilised by the nieghbouring community and vistors for different activities known as a communication hub. These activities will serve to the physical and mental wellbeing of the community. Furthewrmore the garden includes different kinds of play area and smart benches to promote gatherings in the outdoor space.

The conservation of the natural green environments will maintain the biodiversity in a dense urban landscape, and preserve the pollination. This is achieved through the safeguard and the planting of new endemic and native Mediterranean species. To favour the local biodiversity and to encourage the green infrastructure all the existing trees will be retained in the proposed intervention, together with the integration of further landscaping. The proposal incorporates the Windmill as an important feature in the design concept and plays a key role to characterize the space.
